The BIGGEST LITTLE LIGHTING WORKSHOP direct from the West Coast with Sports Shooter Academy founder and USA TODAY'S Robert Hanashiro

It doesn’t take amazing locations and elaborate lighting to make fantastic portraits. Join Bert at NKU's School of the Arts for a FREE all-day workshop on how to successfully light portraits on-location with tools most photographers have in their bags.

ROBERT HANASHIRO • USA TODAY • SPORTS SHOOTER ACADEMY

USA TODAY's Robert Hanashiro is the founder of Sport Shooter, which he started producing in 1998 as a simple email sent to about a dozen of his closest friends and colleagues. Containing articles written by top photojournalists, the Sports Shooter Newsletter has a mailing list of over 7,500, was later developed into the popular SportsShooter.com website and eventually lead to several educational programs including the Sports Shooter Academy.

For the past 26 years, Hanashiro has been the West Coast staff photographer for USA TODAY, the country’s largest general interest daily newspaper. He has covered every major sports event imaginable from the Super Bowl to the Final Four to the World Series to the NBA Finals to the World Cup. He has also covered 14 Olympic Games. Hanashiro's duties for USA TODAY also include covering the entertainment industry, producing portraits of many of the world’s leading actors, directors and musicians. He also covers the major awards shows including the Grammy, Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards. For 11 years Hanashiro was one of just four photojournalists covering the Academy Awards from backstage.
