ARTIST, Cynthiana, Kentucky

I have been creating art nearly my entire life in one form or another. I remember as a child always having an interest in drawing and working with various media. I graduated from Morehead State University with a BA in graphic design, from the University of Kentucky with a BA in art education and from Georgetown College with a MA in art education K-12. I taught art in public schools for 20+ years and recently retired from that career. I continue to teach private art lessons which is a blessing and fulfills a desire to continue a passion for pouring into others of like mind and by doing so enhancing my own creative spirit.

Upon retirement, I have begun to focus more on my own art desires, in creating works that reflect my personal feelings rather than art that would be used in instilling fundamentals and skills in a teaching environment. I presently work in many different mediums as I explore various topics and subject matter. When you view my art, I feel you will find a thread of consistency in images and iconic symbols although the messages of each work may be somewhat different.

In my opinion, art is the personal expression of one's emotions, history and beliefs. Art communicates in a visual way bringing about conversation, discussion, a sense of peace, and/or a feeling of controversy and confusion. Although everyone may not have confidence in being an artist, I believe each person has an innate need for art in some form, whether it be making art or experiencing the art of others. I hope you will enjoy the art from my collection and be stirred or inspired in some way by the subject matter, technique, and/or overall compositions.
