Micah Fryman

"Hi! My name is Micah Fryman and I am from Cynthiana, Kentucky. In 2014, I graduated from Morehead State University with my Bachelor of Arts with a major in Art and a minor in Arts Administration. Throughout my tenure at Morehead State University, I taught Art Lessons (both individual and group) to Rowan County's K-12 youth. I held internships within Morehead State's Art Gallery preparing and working exhibitions and with Rowan County Arts Center
as an Event Coordinator. After my college years, I took a long hiatus from creating work and focused on traveling, building a family and trying to find my place in this world. Turns out, even after all of these years, my place is still rooted deeply in the arts.

Native to Kentucky, most of my work is derived from the beauty of the land that I love to call home along with several works based from my travels. You will see a lot of images involving old back roads and rural landscapes. Nature plays an avid role in all of my pieces and you will see the tendency that I have to stick to more organic subject matter. I work primarily with mixed media but the mediums that you will see consistently throughout my work include (but are not limited to) charcoal, watercolors, and pastels.

I am currently focused on embracing the messiness of life and am pushing myself to capture more movement, light and looseness within my work. I have a tendency to focus on detail and perfectionism but in my thirty years, I'm learning that there is nothing in this world that is absolutely perfect. Life is messy and sometimes the most simple things can be the most beautiful."
