Amy is an attorney and former newspaper picture editor. After graduate studies in photojournalism at the S.I. Newhouse School for Public Communications at Syracuse University, she worked as a picture editor at the Detroit News and USA Today.

An interest in copyright law led her to Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, CA, where she was the recipient of several Witkin awards and the Award of Academic Achievement in Intellectual Property. While in law school, Amy also served as a judicial extern to Magistrate Judge Bernard Zimmerman at the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California.

Amy worked as an associate attorney at a medium-sized California law firm where she represented clients in copyright, patent and trademark matters and litigation. She also worked on various business and employment law cases.
